EIR Draft For Soboba Band 535 acre Annexation Available for Public Review and Comment
Back from my annual 4th of July vacation break. Hope you all had a great holiday.

On July 2 a draft of the EIR for the Soboba Band of LuiseƱo Indians proposal to annex almost 535 acres to its reservation next to San Jacinto where it wants to build a hotel-casino complex was published in the Federal Register.
Residents who live in the area organized to form Save Our Communities, a group who like POLO/POSY et al, want to heighten public interest and to have more of a say in the fee to trust process.
The tribe’s plans include annexing land it owns along Soboba Road and having it placed into federal trust for them. If successful the tribe would then relocate its casino to the new property.
There will be a 75-day public comment period on the environmental document, according to the Federal Register posting. Written comments are due by Sept. 15 and a public hearing is scheduled on Aug. 5 at the Hemet Public Library.
