What is this blog about?

The recent tirade of lettes, articles, press conferences, town hall meetings, full page ads, and confrontations in front of the Santa Barbara County Board of Supervisors over the issue of alleged Chumash Casino expansion has led me to start this blog in an effort to cut through the hype, alarmist propaganda and false-hoods. This blog will be dedicated to telling the facts and keeping you informed of events as they happen concerning the Chumash and other indian gaming issues. Any and all comments, as well as additional information is welcome. Comments may be posted here or may be emailed to me at firkin@verizon.net .....Keep it civil.

I cannot imagaine so many essay type exegeses required to say so may things that simply are not factual.

Indian Sovereignty preceded State Sovereignty for the most part. It was not started by gaming. There are many, many complex issues that have never been dealt with before in the relationship between gaming tribes and the states.

These issues were not settled for once and for all long ago because, with few exeptions, there was little at stake.

Now that there are millions at stake, it will be harder to speak with clarity, reason or cogency.

I applaud this site's efforts at fairness but it falls short.

I also believe that years from now, the "FAVORED NATIONS CLAUSE" will prevail.

I have to disagree about “things” on this site being non-factual. That was essentially the reason for starting this blog - to cut through the media-hype and misinformation being generated by a vocal minority in the valley and to relay the truth to whomever is interested regarding the Chumash Casino expansion issues (or non-issues). I don’t believe there is a statement in this blog that said Indian Sovereignty started with gaming.

Yes, the wealth of the tribes and their sovereignty has now created some very complex issues and another purpose of this blog is to try and look at these issues with clarity and cogency. Indian Sovereignty is changing and will be changing over the years to come and the current trend is that it is diminishing. It is an on-going work in progress and I hope to relay factual information as events and court decisions occur.

If I may ask, in what way will the “Most Favored Nation” prevail years from now? I am confused by that statement. Thanks for your comments..
